New Leaks: Guidelines to Common Questions

Post by Red Ryder »

https://mormonleaks.io/wiki/documents/5 ... stions.pdf

The guidines don't even directly answer the questions. This reads more like a manual on PR spin! The church must think everyone is an idiot.

Q: What's the church's attitude on homosexuality.

A: Everyone is welcome!

Q: Why is church financials information not released.

A: All donations are sacred and pay for expensive programs.

Q: Why do Mormons wear temple garments.

A: many religious groups wear religious vestments.

The list of revisions says a lot.
#7: Made small change to finance page to reflect the fact that the 2nd Quorum members do not receive an allowance, but without spelling that out.

Shouldn't Prophets, Seer and Revelators use inspiration and or revelation to answer questions?

Are all of their magic rocks broken?

Pretty sad. They really are literally trained to dodge the question, and "Answer the question that should have been asked."

Edit: Lots of "Carefully Worded Denials" in there too...

Some amusing stuff there - "The Book of Mormon is an ancient religious text..." I guess 1830 is considered "ancient," now! ;)

Oh, boy - this one's a howler: "In its entire history, the Church has never had to deal with misappropriation of funds by its senior leaders." Let's see, Kirtland Anti-Banking Safety Society, anybody? Technically, I guess "the Church" never did actually "deal" with that situation - Joseph and Sydney just ran off in the middle of the night to avoid prosecution.

This is just the classic church approach to problems.

Translation: You are the one who is wrong. It's your fault you think we are clannish because you haven't bothered to get to know us.

Also the abuse section is nauseating, especially for those of us who have a first hand knowledge of just how "well" the church handles it.

I didn't want to comment on this leaked document, because it made my blood boil. I think I will just leave this quote here, in summation of how I feel about this nonsense. It's a classic breakup line, "it's not me, it's you." Yep. That and you follow Satan if you question our version of events. Ugh.
"And I don't need you...or, your homespun philosophies."
"And when you try to break my spirit, it won't work, because there's nothing left to break."
