Spreading influence

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

As for your Martial Arts Instructor - no, I don't think most Mormons do, we are still basking in the light of the Mormon Moment, those that do think we look ridiculous to others reframe it as 'strange and peculiar' which is evidence that we are God's chosen people.
Thanks. I think you are right.

Incidentally, I am the oldest student of my martial arts instructor, and quite a bit older than he is. I enjoy it a lot. But as the oldest student, I can't do very much. I sometimes wonder why he keeps me around.

I am one belt away from a "black belt". But I think he gave me my belts as an honorary award, rather than for real talent and ability. Or perhaps he factored my age into it, I don't know.

I also think it is helping me to live longer. And for that I am grateful.

My kids' (3 have black belts) instructor was a black American muslim - my kids learned more than how to kick a bozo in the head, they learned discipline and tolerance. So I'm sure that nothing in wasted in such endeavours.
At the halfway home. I'm a full-grown man. But I'm not afraid to cry.
