Nope! But she was rather animated about it. I'll give her a +5 for a Jesus centered talk
"And I don't need you...or, your homespun philosophies."
"And when you try to break my spirit, it won't work, because there's nothing left to break."

Just kind of boring this Rasband. Better than Raz Bandy, to quote nibbler.

Late to the comment game.
When Stephenson started up about saying the long-form name of the church and gushing over the logo and other superficial things, I thought here we go...
I'll just say that I find it odd that he admitted that the one true church has really sucked at celebrating this whole Easter thing for 193 years, but hey, we've really started to pick up our game during the last two years.
Wright: Over the last several years the women have given the better talks in conference. I liked her framing of Jesus as an archetype, which I translated in my brain to say, "Yeah, Jesus is a story, but it's a useful story to build upon." Of course those are my words, nowhere near hers. Jesus is still literal for her, but that's okay.
Kudos to her for mentioning the sermon on the mount. Church is too busy talking up Christ's church and seldom talks of Christ's teachings.
Raspberry: Talked about mercy. I've hit that hard to focus because it's too much blah-blah, so I don't really know what he said. I'm all for hearing more mercy in church, which has traditionally almost been a swear word in Mormondom.

Glad that if they're going to stick with the Sunday night session that they're keeping it to 90 minutes. They should hold all sessions to 90 minutes.

Re: Spring Sat evening session 2025
He's defining worship.
It's been a hot minute since I've read the NT but didn't Jesus attempt to redirect worship towards him to god instead? If so that would be a potential issue for all Christendom, not just the LDS church.
But yes, it sounds like he's defining worship in the church as I know it.

I prophesy this talk is going to make thousands of boring to mediocre SM talks.

Ain't that the truth.
That'll probably be the first Sunday after conference. Get someone to give a talk on this talk and in EQ we'll take turns reading the abortion talk that was everyone's favorite.

I feel like Christofferson is spitting fire against MAGA right now. Again, without being direct, so deaf ears.

Not a horrible talk, a step up for Todd D.
"And I don't need you...or, your homespun philosophies."
"And when you try to break my spirit, it won't work, because there's nothing left to break."
