What is the difference between Bible and Aesop’s Fables?

Why are Easop’s fables not regarded as scripture like the Bible stories? There seem to be few differences and Aesop’s Fables came out around the same time.
It appears even Jesus referred to Aesop’s fables in Matthew:
In a series of warnings in Matthew 7, Jesus uses the imagery of Aesop’s fable to warn his followers of deceivers who will come, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”[26] However, unlike the bemused shepherd in Aesop’s tale, those wolves can be identified “by their fruits.”[27]

I think Jesus's parables are some of the best parts of the Bible. Aesop's fables I also like.
For Christians, Jesus's parables have the added weight of authority. So when teachers use them, they can claim EXTRA authority.
A shortcoming of both parables is that they seem distant from real life. Most kids don't interact with wild animals, then or now, I guess. Maybe I should think about it more?
What if we had modern parables that featured actors, singers, or politicians?

Aesop has too many talking animals. The Bible allows for snakes and donkeys, but ants and foxes? No way.

Hagoth makes a good point. The easiest distinction is that both books contain different stories. Mormons might point with pride and say our stories may not be quite as well written, but they are more anthropomorphic.
