Re: David Bednar
I actually do love little reminders like this that the church is nothing in the big scheme of things. For a brief moment, it helps me forget how it matters more than anything to all of my loved ones. To RR's point, I'm googling in Idaho and I still get the baseball player for the first several ...

Just think of how miraculous it will be when the temple dedication occurs in a few years!

Re: Are there no GenCon rumor this time around?
I've been poking around looking for something. Lots of hopes and dreams about softening WoW and garment requirements. Anything like that would shock me. The one rumor I've seen that might hold up? Combining the service missionaries with the regular missionaries under the existing mission ...

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia when I want to laugh.
Justified when I want drama.

Re: You gotta laugh
I don't know about Mormon-related humor, but I've been watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia as my tonic lately to cope with a lot of work stress/anxiety. There's nothing wholesome about it but the shenanigans the gang gets up to always have me laughing until I cry.

Re: General Konference Predictions
Laziness. There will be not-so-subtle references to people letting things slide over the past year and now it's time to get to work. TBMs are going to leave Conference feeling like they've failed in how they used their time during the pandemic. Those of us married to them, brace for a double down...

Re: Maintaining Some Degree of Connection
Almost everyone I love and care about is still all in on the church so I will always have some forced connection. However, I've been slowly (veeeery slowly) reevaluating the connections I have control over and, in most cases, disconnecting them. Without fail, I've eventually felt happier and freer ...

9. My faithful TBM wife seems satisfied with our 20 minute home sacrament meeting and can't bring herself to suffer through the Zoom Sunday School class every week.

Thanks for the follow up, annotatedbom (and everyone else). I should have clicked your link. Interesting that's it hardly unique to ancient Hebrew. jfro, love your note of Dr. Seuss' use of chiasmus. That reminds me of the infamous Star Wars ring theory. I remember when I first heard about it, I ...

Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 29
I don't know if this is the right place for this discussion but you brought it up! :D Chiasmus is a big one with my FIL. It's slam dunk proof to him that the BoM is true. I've seen folks in the exmo/nom community dismiss chiasmus with a hand wave but I've never seen a thorough discussion on the ...

Re: What aspect of Mo’ism do you still hold dearly?
Certainty. I really miss the certainty that came with belief in the One. True. Church. Obviously it was certain belief in, well, something that turned out to be less than truth. But in the quiet, tough moments of life, I occasionally catch myself yearning for that absolute certainty.

I don't know if I have a lot of time to help, but I edit other's writing for work a lot so I could probably be of help in that vein. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Re: Maybe it’d be nice if everyone posted a very short intro who they are
I'm a longtime lurker/rare poster going back to the old site. Lost access to my old account and finally stopped being lazy and set up a new one. I'm a nonbeliever that's still going through the motions but eeeeever so slowly stepping back from the church. Started turning down speaking/teaching ...
