Re: Exwife requesting our sealing cancellation...the First Presidency asked for my input
Hey stranger! Long time no see. First… congrats on the divorce. Hope it all went well considering it’s a major life change. Second…. Ignore the letter. Their treehouse, their rules! From my experience as a ward clerk, I’ve seen a few cases where the other spouse was honest and positive and gave a gr ...

Re: Exwife requesting our sealing cancellation...the First Presidency asked for my input
This is tough Deepthinker, it sounds like one of those things that your mind tells you not to be bothered by, but it's still deeply upsetting. It's tied to so many huge feelings that it would be impossible not to have it bother you. But there is little opportunity for you to accomplish anything ...

Re: Setting & maintaining a temple boundary
I'm sorry you're going through this with your wife...like others have said, everyone's situations is different and they need to evaluate it for themselves. My take is that with her threatening divorce if you don't go to the temple, it feels pretty manipulative and doesn't show you the respect in the ...

Exwife requesting our sealing cancellation...the First Presidency asked for my input
Brief context: I've been divorced 18 months and my exwife remarried (civil wedding) last month. I received a letter from my Bishop last week saying that she is requesting a cancellation of our temple sealing because she wants to be sealed to her new husband. The Bishop in the letter says the First ...

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
Quick update: After a very long, draining day of mediation last month, we came to an agreement on things. The divorce will be finalized on May 1, so I'm looking at my own place to rent for now. Plenty of mixed emotions still, but I do know this is the right decision.

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
It's good to hear from you again DT. It sounds like you are in the middle of the really tough stuff, keep your head up and take it one day at a time. Hopefully you are able to take some comfort in moving toward a resolution, even if it may be one you had once hoped to avoid. I remember a few years ...

Re: Marriage on a Tight Rope Podcast?
Yes, I've listened to many of them!
Prior to deciding on divorce, I listened to as many podcasts as I could about mixed faith marriages.

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
Edit: I would like to add to this thread, for those of you who have been following, that the issues in my marriage went beyond just trying to make a mixed faith marriage work. They all do. Faith awakening just exacerbates the existing problems. A recent aunt and uncle just decided to separate after ...

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
Hey DT, Was thinking about your story today. Any updates on the divorce talk? Hi RR, You're very kind. Sorry for the late reply here. My wife and I both ended up getting Covid over the holidays, so it slowed me moving forward with things. That and I didn't want such a big disruption to the family ...

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
It seems like she doesn’t know how to react authentically and is numb. She thinks the god said to stay and work on it answer will suffice. But nothing will change and you’ll find yourself at the same place emotionally. You deserve to be in a healthy loving relationship. Thanks RR, you're exactly rig ...

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
I just feel myself continuing to detach from her emotionally. Our conversations end up being the same ones that go around in circles with no resolution. We both think so differently, that it's like we're trying to connect two communication cables together that aren't using the same protocols. I'm ...

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
Wow, that's a huge step. Thanks for the update. It sounds like the whole thing has been really hard, I'm sorry you are going through this. That's interesting how she was able to find revelation so quickly. She still wants to make the marriage "work"; is anything improving? Has she made any changes ...

Re: You are not welcome
I'm sorry you had to experience that az. The church is all about bringing families together, unless you're not part of the "in group". People in the church say they want you to be there, that you're invited...but the real message is that you aren't invited, that you're unclean and we don't want you ...

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
A quick update. I hired an attorney several months ago and have divorce papers ready to file, which she knows about. I have been talking to her about divorce, talking about not wanting to go to litigation, but she wants to still make the marriage "work". We've been sleeping in separate rooms for a ...

Re: Attending my Daughter's Temple Wedding?
Congrats on the wedding DT! Glad you could participate. I’m 100% for the right of all parents to attend their children’s weddings regardless of belief or perceived worthiness in the Mormon church. As a missionary I recall the complaints about the temple I naively defended. It makes me shutter to thi ...

Re: Attending my Daughter's Temple Wedding?
I made it! I attended my daughter's temple wedding. I was one of the witnesses. I'm so glad I went! Yea! I'm glad you went and I'm really glad it seemed to have gone well. Very happy for you and of course for your daughter as well! Thanks! The video presentation I gave at the luncheon in honor of ...

Re: Mental and Emotional Exhaustion
So sorry you're going through this and that you're having to juggle all of it with a wedding coming up. I wish I had good words of advice, but the others are better than me for sure. If you ever need to vent, feel free to message anytime. Thank you! I've confided in two of my brothers now about ...
