Re: A VERY tight translation
"But you know what would have been really impressive? If Joseph had translated the BoM into Romanized Iroquois and had to ask the "Lamanites" what it said." I don't comment often but this is brilliant!" Unfortunately if we had this type of evidence we wouldn't need faith. Or at least we would need ...

Rather than blow my own horn why don't you turn to one of my collogues. His name is Jordan Peterson and he is a Psychologist at the University of Toronto. There are lots of his videos on YouTube. Here is a link to one you might like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-wWBGo6a2w&t=7927s It is the ...

Re: Praising the Mormon People
I golf with the Bishop of my ward so I know him quite well. He and I are both converts of the same age and circumstances, and we both agree that members can be a bit weird. In my case before I joined the Church I said that I did so in spite of the members. This isn't to say that there aren't lots of ...

Re: Joys of LDS Afterlife
Honestly? DW and I have had this discussion several times. Even as TBMs there so many times she said she was fine with the Telestial level because of all the guilt and BS it takes to be one of the "great" families in the ward. I had the wife of a good friend say the same thing to me. She was ...

Re: What did you really learn from the temple ceremony?
I realize that posting anything remotely faith promoting on this forum is a dangerous thing to do. But I'm old which means that I tend to do things that aren't that wise from time to time. I also enjoy visiting and find value in reading your comments, even if I don't agree most of the time. So if I ...

This video gives some insight and as it was filmed during a presentation to the Apostles and others I assume it is accurate. According to the authors of the study the activity rate of those single adults under age 30 is only 30%. Data is at the 6:27 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBH045ooaY0 ...

Dan Vogel discussed his research on this issue in a recent interview with Rick Bennett. Here is a link to the first of their discussions.

Here are three books that I highly recommend for LDS couples having intimacy issues. A lot cheaper than therapy. Plus they offer the advantage of having a hard copy while therapy lasts only as long as you can remember what the therapist says. https://www.amazon.com/Secret-Tiny-Cloud-Mr-Woodhouse/dp ...

Re: Just got back from the new endowment Powerpoint presentation
do we still have to covenant to give all we have to the COJCOLDS? So they changed the endowment and I’m confused by this question. I always thought that my covenants were with God and they weren't subject to change. Are you saying that they are? If they are then I'm going to change mine. And when I ...

Re: "There is No Integrity Left in the Church"
Below is the money quote from one of the high councilmen at Bill Reel's disciplinary hearing last Tuesday night. The context for this quote is that it is toward the end of the hearing. Several high councilmen are asked by the stake president to render their opinion on whether the proceedings have ...

Re: Why I am angry with victims
Suggesting that this is strictly a gender issue is too narrow in my opinion. Our culture in general rewards the fast aggressive person, be they male or female. Even in school, which is a time and failure based system, supports this type of person while those, like my wife, who is more introverted ...

Re: What Does It Mean to be Worthy
I think feelings of worthiness or lack of same is not uncommon in the Church and that this issue is caused by some of our false doctrine. Let me give you the Coles notes version of an alternative way of thinking that I believe will change your life. I believe that the Gospel is so simple that even ...
Re: Saints
So DW has started reading all of these. This gives me a rash because I was falling into a nice pattern of indifference and starting to do a lot of things that had nothing to do with Mormonism. These are going to suck me right back and with whiplash. Do you mind if I ask you a tough question ...

I read your letter and would like to make a few comments. And because we don’t know each other personally I can as candid as I like knowing that you are free to ignore any advice I give. First off your letter comes off more apologetic than I would like to see. Anger is good. Going on and on, on why y ...

Re: Evolving temple experience
Not to be too blunt but why would you trust your parents and/or church authorities if they are asking you to do something that doesn't make sense? Especially if you eventually find out that they were lying. Because I did trust my parents about most everything, especially the church. They are my ...

Re: Evolving temple experience
This. I feel that most of us spent most of our lives trusting parents and/or church authorities that even though it didn't make sense if you thought too deeply, it was still worth while in the long run. After realizing that the church uses the same half-truths that we malign Lucifer for, I began to ...

When does it make sense, to do something, that doesn't make sense? When you trust the person who asked you to do it, or you trust someone who says that it works, or you have direct experience that it works. This. I feel that most of us spent most of our lives trusting parents and/or church ...

When does it make sense, to do something, that doesn't make sense? When you trust the person who asked you to do it, or you trust someone who says that it works, or you have direct experience that it works. We do this all the time. I don't post often so please excuse me if I offend anyone because of my blunt manner. I'm really a nice person at heart. At least my wife tells me I am and I don't like to disagree with her so I defer to her opinion. I would like to ask a simple question and I hope that it will evoke an open ...

Re: The many Ps in life.....

The good news is at least you are considering your future and that your future might include an intimate relationship. The challenge is as you say, how ...
