Re: Son came out as transgender. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
How will a current employer deal with this type of transition? The new employer is a large tech company who prides themselves on being LGBT inclusive and supportive. They have support groups, counselors, outreach programs and, according to their website, will fully cover the costs of transition, so ...

Re: Son came out as transgender. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
12 Sounds like your roller coaster has had considerably more hills than we'll be dealing with. Apart from the obvious issues of hormone therapy, etc ...

Re: Son came out as transgender. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
I missed the clues to your kids age. Mine's younger so some of that above won't apply as much: schools, the cops, the puberty blockers and so on. Yes, having an older child simplifies a lot of these issues, but I really appreciate you sharing the info and background. What age was your daughter when ...

Re: Son came out as transgender. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
Your post brought tears to my eyes. Your child is very lucky to have not one but 2 amazing and open minded and supportive parents. Keep us posted. Sending hugs to you and your family {{{PapaDragon}}} This. I love it when others express my thoughts better than I could. :) Thank you both so much. I ...

Re: Son came out as transgender. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
Concerning gender reassignment, our child has no plans in the foreseeable future for such a radical step. We're talking about a very logical person here, someone who plans things carefully and thoroughly. He (nope, still can't do it) is going to begin seeing a therapist immediately and is planning ...

Re: Son came out as transgender. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
Thank you all for your feedback and support! they will lose cisgender friends. And she is pretty cynical about that. Alas, can you clarify this? cisgender is not a term I'm familiar with. For me, I never felt any connection to Mama Dragons. There were few mothers of lesbians, let alone older ...

Son came out as transgender. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
Hi gang, I'm a regular contributor but I'm using this alternate account to discuss something very personal and sensitive in order to add an additional layer of anonymity for the sake of family members. DW and I have had suspicions that our son might be gay but, despite us giving him many ...
