Re: What are your hobbies?
Computer programming. What do you write in? I've moved to mostly Python, just recently learning web design using the Django framework. Super fun stuff. Something has clicked with CSS recently. JavaScripts...not so much. I started with Ruby, Perl, and Java, but I do mostly C, C++, and x86 ...

Re: What are your hobbies?
Thanks! Almost all of my coursework was in C++, I've taken several classes on Java and started going through a Udemy course on Java 9, it just keeps getting pushed to the back burner when I run out of time. I've done a little bit of web development. I can read it, but I am just not design-minded ...

Beard oil! You can make your own: Mix 50/50 sweet almond oil and jojoba oil, then add a few drops of whatever essential oils you/he think smell best. Looks good, feels good, smells good!

And of course, he's a smart man for keeping you "in" enough to keep Mrs. Hagoth happy that you still have your golden ticket. He's got a ticket to ride, He's got a ticket to rye-yie-ide, He's got a ticket to ride, And Mrs. Hagoth cares! The other reason that I forgot to mention is that I'm a 60 ...

Re: How Mormon can you be for your TBM spouse?
I was subbing in primary on Sunday (all of the teachers were out sick) and I remembered an interview with Kevin Rahm, I think it was, where he said he almost wished he raised his kids mormon so they had something to rebel against. I had to chuckle about it while watching the pure insanity of what ...

Re: How Mormon can you be for your TBM spouse?
I'm starting to feel like I can't put up the charade any longer. I talked with my wife about this and how we should start preparing for the inevitable baptism issue with my young kids in a few years. At a different point in transition I felt I couId eat my cake and have it too, and went through ...

Re: do I want to catch the monkey?
Dude, I don't even know how you could ask this question. I would give anything for my wife to take an honestly critical review of her beliefs and do the obvious thing from there. I guess being "the one to cause it" is more of a question worth asking, but I don't really think it's a thing. If you try ...

Re: Monthly Report from TBM Family Time
Blergh. I'd cut back on the time I spent with people like that too. Maybe just leave the room when that stuff starts. Hang with the kids. Funny aside, earlier in the evening my 17 year old nephew told me to come check something out and we spent 15 minutes in his room listening to his latest music ...

Re: Monthly Report from TBM Family Time
This topic will continue being relevant to me as the undercover unbeliever in most family gatherings. I am visiting with all of my siblings this weekend for a birthday party and I anticipate some heavily TBM discussions. We are first meeting to eat after my father gets out of his temple shift. This ...

Re: Uchtdorf is out, Oaks is in...
Personally, I find this delightful, mainly because it's something actually happening in the Mormon church for once. I asked my wife the other day what she thought they'd do, and she said they'd keep the same counselors. I brought up that Uchtdorf seemed like the polar opposite of Nelson and that ...

Re: To Out Oneself or Not - Opinions on This Please
I kind of agree that the backfire effect is a serious thing to be scared of, but I will say that what finally gave me the conviction to leave was someone in my ward writing a blog post about leaving the Mormon church and (just a few) reasons why there were doing it. I had been suffering at church ...
