Re: Church's tendency to misrepresent
Sauron would have been watching for something obvious like giant birds, but little pudgy Hobbits? Then again, he knew at one point the ring was in the Shire so Hobbits should have been on his list of creatures banned from Mount Doom. RMN can't just be another ordinary guy. He has to be The Special ...

Re: Does your spouse know you post on NOM?
You are right that my wife had a very shallow idea of who I am as a person. During the divorce I mentioned to my mom that I didn't think my wife loved me any more. My mom, a very perceptive person, said "son, she never did". I think deep down I already knew that. I've been on NOM for 5-6 years and ...

Re: Does your spouse know you post on NOM?
My wife found out about my NOMing ways but never brought it up in conversation. She knew I had been struggling with my faith so she did the honorable thing and left me without saying goodbye. That was a year ago and she has since found a man who honors his priesthood. I'm sure our eternal marriage ...

Re: Speed of Prayer Theory
Our understanding of space-time relativity through the curvature and warping of space is the beginning of knowledge. The "ether" or invisible "substrate" that permeates creation constitutes a "space-time-priesthood" continuum whereby all things are now to God as revealed to him through the Urim and ...

Re: Big changes coming in April GC!
Don't get snookered into General Conference by talk of a big change. Nothing big ever happens. When the missionary age was lowered they advertised the broadcast as an "historic" event that we wouldn't want to miss and I swallowed the hook like a fat ugly fish-farmed catfish fully believing something ...

Re: Your Mission- the best and worst.
I do not remember having a spiritual experience on my mission. It was a faith ending realization. I remember giving a blessing to the sick child of a new member couple and when we returned the next day they were furious because the child had grown sicker. I realized they expected the blessing to ...

Re: Mass deception!....WOW
Think of every type of information you take in each day from news stories to advertisements to conversations with friends. How much of that information is true? After paying attention to it for a while I realized that the majority of everything I heard or read each day was false. Not that it was ...

Re: Can the church be saved?
If the church confessed it's sins and accepted Jesus as its personal saviour it could be saved. Until then it will continue on its merry way to Hell.

Re: Do you believe in God?
I've always had this idea that there is something special and unique about life on earth. I know we evolved but it just seems like there must be some deeper point to it all. I think the answer is much bigger than an immortal homosapien father figure testing our righteousness. I think right now the ...

Re: Leaving Church Because Of Hypocrites
Agreed. It's discovering that the church does not really, after everything is considered, provide all that much value to one's life. A Mormons life is exhausting and repetative and for some people it is not worth the cost. It isn't anything sinister; it just doesn't work for everyone.

Re: Can you find spirituality?
I've never felt the spirit. I don't know what it means to feel the spirit nor why it matters. Really, what does a warm feeling signify anyway? I've felt an emotional resonance a few times that I've decided must be what people are experiencing when they say the spirit is really strong right now, but ...
