Re: Possible fallout from Sister Sloth's family
Has Sister Sloth employed the patented Slothful Stare? Nope -- her contempt has become far less subtle than mine. The beach house weekend went off without a hitch. Nobody chastised anyone. I even was spotted drinking actual tea, and nobody commented. FIL wore his cargo shorts, t-shirt, and garments ...

Re: Online Tithing
One other little piece of info that I haven't seen mentioned yet. Assuming they haven't changed it, paying confidentially by bill pay means that your payment amounts are not automatically disclosed to your bishop. However, bishops still have the option of getting that info. I don't know whether they ...

Re: Is it ethical to try to signal Mormon/temple worthy for a job interview in Utah County?
Not nearly as unethical as an equal-opportunity employer who gives preference to TR holders, whether implicit or explicit.
If they are hiring based on that, then they deserve to be taken advantage of. Whether you would want to work in such an environment is a different question though.

Possible fallout from Sister Sloth's family
Quick background, I've been mentally out for about 4 years, transitioning for about 3.5, and fully out for almost 2. I drink, break the sabbath, and wear worldly underwear without a second thought now. I don't plan to ever go back, though I'm not resigned. Along the way, my wife has always been ...

I'm surprised Dordrecht is closing! Isn't that where the temple is located?

Ok, I have only two pieces of wisdom to add:
1. Hitachi Magic Wand
2. Vibrators are not just for women

Re: I learned from the best, Giant Sloth
Is it better as a MM (marginalized member) to be covered in camo or be completely transparent? That's an important question! Luckily in the church, nothing can eat you if you don't want it to. They can only nip at you. But if you never come down from the canopy for them, it becomes a huge hassle ...

Re: I learned from the best, Giant Sloth
Gosh, you guys have made my day! (Just barely saw this thread just now!) I'm afraid I've slothened myself out of a job... Sister Sloth and I are now totally inactive, and our new baby sloth remains an unblessed heathen who has yet to set a three-toed paw inside a meetinghouse. The Slothening the ...

Re: Why some DWs/DHs follow and others don't?
I ran a poll years ago regarding what happened to the spouses of NOMs over the years. IIRC, about 60% loosened up and became less TBM, 20% stayed about the same, and 20% doubled down and became more TBM. The consensus was that if a spouse is willing to read and research, it is only a matter of time ...

Re: Obligatory Post on Tithing ;-)
The tithing thread on the old forum was a invaluable resource for people trying to scale back their tithing payment. It included instructions on how to set up confidential tithing payment -- an important step for many people (including me) trying to take back their right to choose how much to donate ...

Just saying hello
I was sad to see the old site had gone down. It contained something of a "journal" of my faith transition. But, I'm glad y'all have restarted. This is a great resource. I wasn't really active on the old board when it went down, and I probably won't really be active on this one, but just wanted to ...

Re: Another Testament of Marriage
My wife joined it when I was disbelieving and she was believing.
She found it distasteful the way people spoke of their spouses as a "trial".
She quit it after a few weeks. Eventually she quit church with me.
