Life imitating art or vice versa? Wondering if this was before or after Orgazmo.

Re: I think I want to be cremated...
These days it feels like you have to fight not to be cremated. Morgues and hospitals find it easier so it's the default setting in a lot of cases. Best to have something in writing. I have it in my will to be buried in a national cemetery in my dress blues. This caused arguments with some folks in ...

Well I hope you enjoy being here. A number of us rarely discuss the church and just BS all the time, but there's plenty of support if you need it.

Re: The 'transfiguration of Brigham Young' and the New Testament
If it can be possible to take place, I lost my faith in God independent of the church. I was pretty inactive when I realized my reasons for believing in anything supernatural were really bad reasons, and that unless I had good reasons to do so it made no sense to accept any of these claims. One of ...

Re: Winter is Coming in April
I think the problem is that okay, maybe the building block are there in the books, but I haven't read the books. I can't go off of them. All I can go off of is the TV series. If you have to refer to the books to justify the story on TV, that just makes the writing all the worse. I guess what I ...

Never Imagined This Coming From Comics
Which is silly of me since I was loving Alan Moore's work years before graphic novels became a respectable medium. I've never read Grant Morrison. I quit reading comics when I was 18 so it's been some time since I delved into them (minus the MCU and other films of course). Really interesting video ...

Re: Real Face of Jesus/Little House on the Prairie
I've made basically that same remark numerous times when I was a member and it never even phased anyone that they might have the wrong idea. Even in more "progressive" Oregon. Not a fan of the long hair on a guy look (despite having once had it) but it seems like the stupidest reason to determine ...

Re: Real Face of Jesus/Little House on the Prairie
I’m not an expert in forensic anthropology but I trust others are and reading how they came up with this typical Jewish man’s appearance in the time of Christ has merit. Christ/Yeshua was said to have blended in - looked similar to others and hid in Africa/Egypt. Back 2,000 years ago, there was les ...

Re: Real Face of Jesus/Little House on the Prairie
I've never been too sure about that artist rendition. So many people of modern Israel and other places in the middle east (Iran, Lebanon, Jordan) or even Saudi Arabia really don't look like that. Yes, I realize genetics change over time, and I know that those were made from a few skulls from that ...

Re: Winter is Coming in April
As Just this Guy pointed out, the actions were both completely out of character and at odds with the other seven seasons. Ruining the story for a "you didn't see that coming" ending. Ehhh... I mean I won't defend this season or even the last couple of seasons as "good writing" but the building ...

Re: Winter is Coming in April
Does anyone else feel burned out by episode five? Now I am thinking Daenerys should challenge Trump for the Republican nomination. Daenerys could swoop down into the RNC arena mounted on Drogon and while Trump could be riding John Bolton. Which one could create the greatest carnage? Stay tuned. I ...

I wouldn't go that far but it's comparable. Easily better than anything in the new Disney universe though, save possibly for Vader's Rogue One rampage.Just This Guy wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 6:30 am I saw that over the weekend. Very good work. That's better than anything in the Prequels.

Along with accompanying scenes. Really brutal compared to even the prequel films.

That's a pretty good analog to Hilary Clinton right there, I have to say. Trump kind of reminds me of show Euron (but not book Euron of course). If they had worked together instead of against one another...

Re: Have any of you considered Catholicism?
One thing worth noting is that Catholicism is the "faith of our fathers" for anyone of European descent. If you are from the British Isles then perhaps even earlier ancestors painted themselves blue for religious observances. That would certainly have been interesting to see. Nordic paganism is the ...

Reservoir Dogs is fantastic IMO, I can't believe you think it's unwatchable. So many solid performances and a great premise for a film.Lithium Sunset wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 6:23 pm I just told the almost 18 y/o to check out Reservoir Dogs. I can’t stomach a rewatch but I think he may like it.

Cobra Kai Season 2
Of all the things I got pumped about, this one had the best payoff. It's not as well paced as season 1, but it has more weight to it and the finale is pure mayhem. Absolutely worth the wait. Now I'm Jonesing for season 3.

Re: If Only Cartoons Were This Awesome When I Was A Kid
Sorry to be a downer, but I never liked groups like KISS and Alice Cooper much. They just seemed too gimmicky/commercial, but I am a bit of a snob. I have played a couple of Alice Cooper songs in a cover band and sang Crazy Train by Ozzy. As Gene Simmons once said, they lived the American dream ...

Re: Teaching Gospel Doctrine for Easter tomorrow, got any ideas?
How did this go? I've always wondered how I might be asked to teach a class after abandoning belief, and this could be a huge insight into what I myself may have taught.
