Re: Are all Church Teachings Malleable?

Just This Guy wrote: Tue Nov 12, 2024 6:25 am I can only think of one teaching that is hasn't changed and that is it worship the leadership.

Other than that, Basically every Mormon teaching has changed at some point or other.
I guess that's because leadership/power are the most important things to them. :?

Re: Elder Bednar telling crowd to "Sit down!"

Recently Elder David Bednar was at a swanky soirée in Park City, Utah held at the Chateau Romney. Each important guest had their name and titles announced as they descended the marble staircase. Two places ahead of Elder Bednar some blond-haired dame handed the head butler her card and he announced, ...

Re: Elder Bednar telling crowd to "Sit down!"

These presiding authority rules are not written in a member manual. There not scripture. There not even in laid out in conference talks. They are in essence a form of idolatry No other man before God. After learning all this about Bednar I am not looking forward to what his "reign" as prophet will ...

Re: Changes in garments

It's just the most recent example of an instance where church leaders insisted members make sacrifices to obey a rule only to have the carpet yanked out from under them, causing people to question the need for those sacrifices made in the past. A lot of post-mo females are reliving the intense body ...

Did I get excommunicated?

Or is the board just glitchy? I can comment as long as I don't sign in first. Then when I hit submit, I get the General Error page. I might try making a new profile. General NOMference is less than one week away!

I haven't really unpacked that box on my broken shelf yet. But I remember when I was TBM, I HAD to read the scriptures every day, no matter what. I was afraid that bad things would happen to me if I didn't.

Re: Belief in a Deity Vs. Belief in a Church

Evil Monkey, I'm so sorry for your loss. That is truly heartbreaking. According to this article https://news.gallup.com/poll/642548/church-attendance-declined-religious-groups.aspx 2 decades ago 42% of American adults regularly attended church each Sunday. Now that number is only 21%. In my opinion ...

I'm sure I've told this story here before, but the Sunday after the trek they had several kids speak in sacrament meeting. One of them, who was on my son's cart, talked about letting go of the cart on the big hill and feeling angels pulling it. My son, sitting next to me said, "that was me!. I was ...

Re: LDS Guesstimates

How many Mormons does it take to change a lightbulb? One super righteous Elder to preside, one wife to change the bulb, and thirty-eight sister-wives to be barefoot and in the kitchen. I was thinking along the lines of 17 million. One to change the lightbulb, and 16,999,999 to claim that the bulb ...

I believe in Love- Charity- (agape in Greek.) When Paul says Love is greater than faith, I think, "Yeah! Obviously!" The idea that God can simply be "Love" resonates with me. Love is an ideal I still pursue, though I don't live up to it. Life is painful, and I feel regret for pain I have caused. I ...

Since that article is for subscribers only, could you give us a synopsis? They are rolling a bunch of smaller tithing lawsuits into one big tithing lawsuit. They are going to argue that the church misled members about what the money was being used for. I hope it works. I know we would all love a ...

My favorite feature was free coffee, but they also had a really nice and expensive coffee/snack bar, if you wanted to spring for a latte and fancy pastry. Oh yes! Ours does free coffee and donuts!!!!
