Re: A one-liner that captures your disaffection
If it’s actually true then it should at very least be a force for good, and I’m failing to find the overarching good.

Re: Pres Nelson's BYU Speech Today
What if I pray about it and the spirit confirms to me that the prophet doesn't actually know what he's doing, they're all just making it up as they go, and I am just as good if not better off ignoring the whole lot of them? “Listen, you little wiseacre: I'm smart, you're dumb; I'm big, you're l ...

Re: Are youth really leaving?
I am 30. In my class growing up there were 12 of us. Out of the twelve, three (maybe four, but I doubt it) including myself are active. Three have been very vocal about why they’ve left, others just faded.

Re: How do atheists find their car keys?
The atheist realizes that they, not god, are responsible for their keys and proceed to mount a key rack by the door that they responsibly use.

Towards the end of that medley my kid started making loud farting noises in time with the music. While I usually shut down obnoxious noises pretty quickly, the lucky kid got away with it this time.

Re: Polygamy in heaven
I was always under the impression that the binding on earth spoken of in Matthew was generally interpreted as sealing. If that is the case, everyone “bound” on earth would remain in that same state in heaven. That would seem to indicate an affirmative on polygamy there. http://classic.scriptures.lds. ...

Re: Who saw the eclipse in totality?
I was able to watch it in my back yard. To say that it was awe inspiring would be an understatement! The whole experience was heightened by the sounds of the woods behind the yard. Nature is amazing.

Re: Des News: "Why Strong Mormon Women Stay in the Church"
Nowhere in this article does she actually define what makes a woman strong - much less give a legitimate reason to stay other than needing a (male) god to give answers about life... but only if you ask for those answers in a "yes/no" format!

Re: Secular Homeschool
Sorry for being slow in logging back in! I think I've figured out (most of) my curriculum for this coming semester. My local Classical Conversations group is unofficial, meaning I won't have to sign a statement of belief in order to participate, so I'm giving that a shot. Otherwise, I have a math ...

Secular Homeschool
Does anyone on this board homeschool? I'm starting this fall and have been struggling to find a truly secular method that fits my family. I don't believe that children need to have religion in their everyday studies in order to become moral, happy, contributing members of society. I also don't ...

My BIL is convinced that the ark was filled with DNA samples and the technology to grow animals from said samples. Yikes.

DH pays tithing. That's his deal. I'm working on allotting some of my time to service on a weekly basis. I feel like personally giving back to the community is the best thing I can do right now to be an aware, contributing member of society.

Spouseman pays online and the records go to our ward. It would be nice to give anonymously, but I'm not sure how to go about that.

And what if you're intersex? Did somebody mess up? Is there more than male and female? The proclamation sheds no light on this.

Re: I am a NOW Mormon
Personally, I do not think of myself an neglected or wounded. I feel that that is (for me) self-victimizing, which is the opposite of what I need to be able to progress to a positive stage of life. NOM and the posts here are helping me to move in the right direction but I would not feel a desire to ...
