Re: Keeping up with Trump
In 2015 Trump said it was time to remove the Confederate Flag from capitols to museums. Four days ago (July 2020) he said: ""All I say is freedom of speech, it's very simple," he replied. "My attitude is freedom of speech. Very strong views on the Confederate flag. With me, it's freedom of speech ...

Re: If they had to choose
That would be too big for the general membership to handle. I think most would be in group 3, but some members would break into factions reflecting those first two choices and probably others. So the church would splinter a bit. My guess is most members would probably follow their local leadership ...

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint
This is old, but even more relevant now that we know of 100 million + I love that JFS quote, if the members had a real voice, I wonder what they would say about how to use the funds in light of his statement. Members will think this is divine blessing of their funds. When in reality it is just ...

If the church is a corporation sole as i understand, does this not make RMN guy at the top the richest dude on earth? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm sure it does. Only if you combine all the church's assets, but by a wide margin. Probably will also become the first Trillionaire. Time ...

Re: The spirit
The best resource is to test the spirit for yourself. I don't mean test yourself against the spirit like the church recommends, which could be just a mind game with your elevated emotions. I mean to test the spirit. See if it works. For some reason the church never proposes we test the spirit ...

Re: Taking indefensible position?
You are taking a lot of heat for normal human behavior. I suggest doing some research into sexual fantasy, emotional affairs, and porn use from a normal human sexuality point of view. For example, research shows that virtually all men and most women have sexual fantasies with people other than their ...

2. If you feel you can't handle being in the bishopric, use your family and career as leverage. Let the bishop know that you have a young family and a new career and they have to come first for you. Ask to be released so you can focus on those who need you the most. No need to even bring up your ...

Re: Non-scientific research - you can participate too!
So finally a solution for the new nick-name of the not-rebranded church. Now that we know who they REALLY worship. This is the Church of the General Conference. Members can now be referred to as "Conferites". Or maybe "GenCons".

Re: Miracles - Why are they bugging me.
The perception of miraculous events is universal. Best answer. These things happen to all people from time to time. Including secular people. Think of the idea of leading a "charmed life." Good and bad things happen to all people in all belief systems. Sometimes we can see patterns. Jung called that ...

Weren’t the most recent and most substantial changes announced in between conferences? I would then expect the next set of changes to be announced in the coming months. More control over the message that way. This also keeps them in the news cycle. More attention. Count on regular revelations from t ...

Re: The changing face of LDS INC under RMN...why the rush?
I noticed that he seems to be rushing things too. Especially with the temple changes. Every other time the temple changed they waited to make a new film. This time they roll them out with a slide show because they didn’t have time to do a decent job with a real film? It made me wonder if, being a d ...

Re: How to Reconcile LDS Doubts
Regarding the original post here. I agree that Mormons can be really great people. I have relied on them many times, as well as provided service to others. But now on the other side of a faith transition, I see their service as a little sad. Many of the members who are so generous and kind are that ...

Has anyone prayed to know if he was a prophet? That is not how prayer works, sadly. The idea that you can pray to know truth was invented by the Wesley brothers, the founders of the Methodist movement. John and Charles Wesley. They decided, I believe in the 1750s, that warm feelings they felt in ...

And in this drama, the role of Sydney Rigdon will be played by: http://jfsm.org/about.html (great-grandson of Joseph Smith, Jr, with a congregation or group of followers ready to join?) But in this version, Sydney (aka JFSmith) gets his wish, and becomes president of the new church. But not prophet.

My "wow" realization: It seems I need a magic rock and/or hat to translate that website. I literally learned nothing about" The cause of Zion" by visiting their site. What a complete waste of bits and bytes. Yea, took me awhile to make sense of that site. This seems close to an 'about', his ...

Re: Endowment Video Posted on YouTube by Mormon.org
Total misdirect. Watching the video an outsider would think the Temple was about Jesus, Christian teachings, and uplifting messages of peace. The buildings are very beautiful, but what goes on inside is definitely not accurately portrayed in the video. Someone needs to make a counter-video that ...

Putting on my skeptic's treasure-seeking con artist hat... here is a possible scenario, supported by evidence of the counterfeiting culture in the Smith family. - Joseph knew full well there was never any treasure in his prior hunts. So the treasure was ALWAYS a ruse, and there was usually a mark ...

Probably just a way to better manage things with a two hour block. Particularly the second hour, since half of that is in Sunday school and the other half is split between primary and young men and young women for the youth. This simplifies some of the logistical problems they could have with a half ...
