Re: An open letter to Thayne
I don't post here very often anymore, I was more active on the old NOM board. (I probably should see my bishop and repent or something.....) Whilst I should be 'over' it now, Im still pissed at Thayne for letting it all die. I know people say he didn't owe anyone anything, I have a differing view on ...

Whilst trying not to sound like my threat is bigger than your threat....
Here was our reason for not attending - my TBM DW wasnt so keen on going, even though the chapel was outside the exclusion zone

The real reason for the season....

Re: Taking a small one for the team
I take the advice of Nancy Reagan, and 'Just say NO' My DW still wants to go, but with me saying no, and the kids not so keen either, she usually goes it alone. It is one of the only concessions I have with regards to the church.... Although I have said when the church is fully transparent, then I ...

Re: Hello from a recovering lurker
TBM family requires me to live at peace with the Church, so NOM is my life line to sanity. Meanwhile, I take my approach from the Penguins of Madagascar, “Just smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave”. Welcome back, and thanks for coming out of obscurity - I think a few more of us lurkers need to step ...

Nicely done....
Id love to be a fly on the wall to see her reaction when she read it!
I was almost wondering who you were for a moment, I didn't recognise the new avatar - I was expecting a hamster in priest robes (or something like that is memory serves me)

Re: This made me bloody angry
I think it really reads: Obedience is a choice. Its a choice between our own limited knowledge & power & God's unlimited wisdom & omnipotence. And by God's unlimited wisdom & omnipotence, we mean the earthly representatives of God, you know; the prophets and apostles and general authorities of the ...

I am Enough
A few years ago I was in a particularly bad place. I had the full effect of the faith crisis underway, living in a foreign country with very limited support - no real friends close by, my marriage was very rocky, work sucked, and it felt like I had no place to turn. I felt like my life was not worth ...

Good Advice from the old NOM forum
I was cleaning up files on my computer and noticed that I had saved a few posts from the old NOM forum that I found particularly helpful. I hope bradlee doesnt mind me sharing it again here.... I have read this over so many times, and it has helped me immensely. If only we had access to the database ...

Re: I wonder where _____ is???
You saying you live far away from most NOMs made me think of some of our posters from outside the US. None of them except our Dutch friend have shown up. And they are ones that nobody will know in real life. There are probably a few more of us from beyond the US here, but as I lurk mostly in the ...

Leukarktos, Good to hear from one of the 'old timers', and to hear that you have adapted to life in the mormon corridor. Its always surprising to me how different wards can be, some are almost smothering with friendliness, and other wards people wont even give you the time of day. At least it gave ...

Re: Welcome NOM refugees to NOM 2.0
Ill add my thanks to the reboot of NOM, thanks to RedRyder, Corsair, and who ever else was complicit in establishing our new home on the net. Just a bummer the new website domain is blocked for me at work, probably just as well. If we can now change the colour to green, and put avatars on the left ...

Re: What makes NOM special.
Im happy to back on NOM, I really missed it over the last few weeks. I really dont enjoy reddit too much, I lurk occasionally but like others have already said too much vitriol and too fast for my liking. Im glad to have Zadok back, his wry sense of humor and wisdom will be a welcome addition. As to ...
