Re: Post Mo Metamap
This is great. Thanks so much for posting that. I'm going to print this off and do it later, but for now, I am stuck on #10 where it mentions finding a new community. Really been missing that lately and wondering if I'll ever find a community I truly relate to (other than online I mean). I hope I ...

Re: Hurting....
wow. . . I'm glad to hear that things are somewhat resolved now? My goodness, that sounds like the most stressful situation for EVERYONE to have been in. I wish you all the best moving forward, and to your dad as well. I hope you can rest easy knowing he's in experienced, capable hands that can care ...

Documentary Recommendation
Just wanted to highly suggest this documentary on netflix if you haven't already seen it. It's called "One of Us" and it's about ex-Hasidic Jews and their lives after leaving the religion / community for different reasons. Really moving and made me really feel for these people. Definitely helps me ...

Re: Is Mormon sentiment changing?
I think the reputation is changing, but slowly and I think you're right, it might be more that the media you consume / search out is not exactly LDS friendly? I do feel that with the new leadership, that was a definite step in the wrong direction given the times. Old, crusty (and some not so crusty ...

Re: Did anyone here get a divorce over all of this?
My husband and I decided to move forward with separating tonight. Feeling sad and just overwhelmed but know it's the best decision in the long run. He will be moving to be with family in Utah and I'm moving back closer to my family (midwest). Just feeling very odd right now, like it's not me but ...

Re: Did anyone here get a divorce over all of this?
Congratulations a1986! Hold your head up high and be proud that you guys were married for as long as you were. Sometimes couples need to move on for the benefit of both individuals. You have your whole life ahead of you and will find happiness after this transition period. The best part is you can ...

Re: What was / is your purpose in being part of the church?
I grew up in South Texas. After college I moved far away from family and friends, broke up with my boyfriend and felt completely lost after college. I was lonely, probably depressed and wasn't even sure I wanted a career in the field I had just gotten a B.S. in. So I went back to church because ...

Re: Mixed Faith Marriage Workbook
Question for anyone here, not just Linked. How do your conversations end? On a high note? Or mostly with disappointment and hurt? Out therapist suggested ways to try and end the conversations on a high note and a hug. Like hugging it out and thanking each other for the conversation. Mutual ...

Re: Mixed Faith Marriage Workbook
That sounds promising. My husband and I are in a similar situation--we're trying couples counseling and now I've printed off the workbook. We also have "heart to hearts" regularly, but mostly after I initiate. I also pushed for the counseling. His issue is more centered around wanting to avoid any ...

Re: Mixed Faith Marriage Workbook
Huge breakthrough last night!!! We are on the 2nd exercise which can last a few sessions. You answer 60 questions like "name my 2 best friends" or "which relative am I most afraid of negatively impacting our kids because they are overbearing", answer for yourself and guess at the answer for your ...

Re: Mixed Faith Marriage Workbook
DW and I started Dr. Kristy Money's Mixed Faith Marriage Workbook last night. It did not go well. The first exercise is called getting vulnerable, and you are supposed to be open with your spouse about how much you know about each other about things like faith, hobbies, friends, family. Then you ...

Re: Just a Little Rant
Rant away a1986! That is a very difficult situation. I know because I am living it as well. My wife could have written your post, except I'm the one who doesn't believe, but she is the one sensitive to the awkwardness. For us this issue pre-dates my faith change, it even started before our marriage ...

Re: Just a Little Rant
First of all, I think you need to sort issues. It sounds like you are an introvert, married to an extrovert who just doesn't get it that you need your own bed at night, some personal space when visiting others, and you hate forced "hanging out." Then there is the "in law" issue. It is NORMAL to not ...

Re: Just a Little Rant
My answer to this would be...MJ edibles. Sorry, I know that's not much help, but at the right dose, they really do help out quite a bit with otherwise uncomfortable and mundane situations. So, if you happen to be passing through CO, NV or WA you might just make an excuse to go to "The Store". haha ...

Just a Little Rant
Just wanted to express some frustrations to people that might understand what I'm going through. My husband's parents are coming into town this weekend and we are supposed to be spending time with them and his SIL and her family. This is going to involve a 45-minute drive from our place and lots of ...

Re: What was / is your purpose in being part of the church?
I was born into the church, though according to the map I should have been Roman Catholic. I'm actually thankful for participating in Primary and YW. School was an abusive hellhole for me, I belonged to the untouchable caste. At church, though, the kids were nice to me and included me. I wouldn't ...

Re: Re-Adjusting to Life!
This is where I am at as well. I've explored a ton of religions trying to figure out what I believe but in the end I realized that I don't have to believe in anything! I find my own spirituality just enjoying life and this amazing world we live in. In the end it will all work out!
I ...

Re: What was / is your purpose in being part of the church?
I think the church overall helped me become something I like. This may have happened without the church for sure, but it didn't and here I am. The church has not been positive for me since my truth seeking, and the purpose of me being there now is to support a spouse who still feels benefits from ...
