Re: Jesus would like to know about your recent underwear purchase!
Sorry if this is slightly tangential, but I noticed a couple of things about my new garments (~4 months old). First is that the sacred symbols are less obvious. In my old garments, the symbols are clearly there because they are thickly stitched. In my new pair, I thought at first that I had ...

Re: Sunday Morning NOMference!!
Thank you so much NOM'ers for the Conference play by play! Sadly I have a vested interest in what happens in conference because my DW is still trapped in the religion, but I simply cant make myself sit through hours and hours of mind numbing pablum. Keep up the good work!

If only there was an organization, any organization, that could free up a couple hundred million dollars to help feed or clothe the needy. If Jesus were here, surely he would head up such an organization.

Re: Mormonism's Money is in the hotseat
Just watched KSL gaslight the whistleblower. The jist of the news story is that he is just a disgruntled ex-mo out to make a quick buck. "Yea. Thought so" (says reassured full tithe paying TBM DW).

Re: Are youth really leaving?
No offence intended if this comes across badly. But I am curious about your impressions and thoughts? I agree 100% with your assessment. I would love to see a documentary on what happens when you take a population of Mormons, with their inherent self ascribed exceptionalism, isolate them (to the ...

Re: Are youth really leaving?
We had not one, but two missionary "farewells" today. Plus, a sister missionary just returned home after serving a full 18 months. And, a tender mercy, a sister who had mysteriously stopped coming to church several years ago (rumour has it someone offended her) has suddenly started attending SM with ...

Re: Are youth really leaving?
For context, I attend church every week (because of DW) and have a calling, but as I have said in prior posts I am 100% out mentally and don't pay tithing. My temple recommend expired recently and I have no interest in renewing it. (DW realized the implications of being temple recommend-less, and ...

Re: Honor Code Stories
A co-worker of DW related how she had reported a room mate to the HCO. The roommate was kicked out of BYU. No details were available, but it was clear to DW that there was absolutely no remorse from co-worker. More like a sense of pride.

Re: General Konference Predictions
My wife gave me some straight up legit advice yesterday. While acknowledging that I wasn't going to watch one second of conference, she cautioned me to " ..not just believe what those anti-mormons (e.g, NOM) say about conference". Deep sigh. Just when I thought I was at least making SOME headway ...

Re: What I said I'd never do.... accepted a calling
I was the SHFC a couple of years ago. The calling also requires a once a month sacrament talk, and an additional 5% tithing donation. You must also wear the garment top over your shirt every other saturday. Oh, and be ready to scrub the temple restrooms every 3rd sunday in June. Brings back a lot of ...

I would add to the list, but I'm terrified that someone will recognize me and report me to my bishop.

Re: General Konference Predictions
Days after the last conference, tears were shed and testimonies were born at our family party (on wife's side) as they reverently recounted the prodigious amount of revelation coming forth in these (obvious) later days. FIL observed that through RMN the lord was "..busy organizing HIS church". The ...

Re: Define: Manhood
My cousin recently related his experience with LDS dating sites. Several of the women specifically stated that "you must be a strong priesthood holder". I told him to reply that he can easily lift 100 pounds over his head! . He said that LDS women are basically looking for men who, in order of ...

Re: Faith Crisis Contagion
How old is he? My parents are in their early 70’s and I don’t think they could mentally survive a faith crisis. At this point they need Mormonism until they die. This. My in laws are in their 80's and the church is their whole life. We visit with them quite frequently, and never ever has some asp ...

Re: The gospel for dummies
There's only one class now, the gospel doctrine class. It's made for a crowded SS in my ward. Yep. There was discussion in our ward on how to make GD more welcoming/useful to the people who attended GP. Leadership decided that SS would be taught to the lowest common denominator (investigator/new ...

I rarely make it to our Sunday School since I usually end up helping the primary one way or another. However, I did get in there this past week where the discussion wound up ...

Re: The gospel for dummies
Have you tried the small gospel principles class - and act like a difficult, inquisitive investigador? Keeps it lively. We only have GD. I live in the heart of the heart of the corridor. And we dont have investigators. Non-members in the area are wise to the shannnagans of their LDS neighbors and ...

The gospel for dummies
Attended SS for the first time since getting a primary teaching assignment. I needed to kill 20 minutes because I wont go to sharing time. I threw caution to the wind and went for it. OMG SS was as vapid and boring as I remembered it! Our instructor is so concerned about "sticking to the doctrine ...
