Re: Russell's Death Spiral

Doesn’t (pardon the pun) Trump’s miraculous survival trump Rusty’s??? I mean here we have a guy who’s never used olive oil except perhaps in various sex acts being “saved by God” in a way that’s there’s verifiable proof of a “miracle”. We have still shots and footage actually showing a bullet flying ...

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a true history of England

For behold there is new and previously unrevealed scripture found within this movie concerning the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. “….thou shalt pull out the Holy Pin and thou shalt count to three. Three is the number of the counting and the number of the counting is three….” How could comedic English ...

Re: Purpose of the Book of Mormon

The church has been moving the goalposts. It’s not enough to prove there could have been lamanites existing 2,000 years ago, they have to prove there were lamanites still around in 1830 and beyond

Purpose of the Book of Mormon

Right there in the title page it says that the BOM is written TO THE LAMANITES. Near the end Mormon says in Mormon 7:2 —- (to the lamanites) “know ye that ye are of the HOUSE of ISRAEL” and in Moroni Chapter 10 the last chapter of the BOM is addressed to my brethren “the Lamanites”. Therefore the apo ...

Re: Prophecy and Modern times

I believe there is a non-zero chance (somewhere less than 5%) that humans will be stupid enough to start world war 3 and destroy the world and life as we know it. (I see Iran etc.. making a lot of threats but other than a few rogue terrorists with missiles, none have the guts to risk destroying ...

Re: Prophecy and Modern times

I called the topic prophecy and modern times cause that’s the name of Skousen’s book that was on my bookshelf as a kid and a lot of us gen-x ers were taught from it whether we knew it or not. The most disturbing part for me was not the death and destruction and gore but when he said that all of man ...

Prophecy and Modern times

So here we go with the possible start of open war between the armies of Israel against Gog and Magog. Cleon Skousen and all the 19th to 20th century Mormon prophets have laid out the blueprint. We need two apostles to go to Jerusalem and perform signs and wonders as they hold back the heathen armies ...

Re: After 10+ years inactive, I decided to return for good

Thanks for all the great comments! Now I find myself trying to fix the things I feel got damaged or broken inside, after years struggling with my own feelings, my faith or lack thereof, my sins and doubts. Honestly, I dread the idea of being on my death bed, having denied God because I got doubtful ...

Has Ensign Peak bought and bribed AI?

I asked ChatGPT if Joseph Smith married underage girls. The response was more ridiculously apologetic than anything I’ve read from FAIR: Yes, Joseph Smith did have marriages with women who were younger, including some who were under the age of 18. It is important to understand, however, that the p ...

Q: What is the first token of the Aaronic priesthood? A: The first token of the Aaronic priesthood is called the "Aaronic Priesthood Token (or Sign) of the Aaronic Priesthood." It is part of the temple rituals in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The specific details and ...

The Civil War prophecy was partly fulfilled. Note that in 1832 south Carolina was considering leaving the Union over a tariff dispute. 87:1 The war started in South Carolina. :) 87:2 War poured out on all nations starting there. :( What if it said Sarajevo and 1917? 87:3South vs. North ...

By the way, in the early 90s I myself was a very inactive college student but still had very homophobic opinions based on my church upbringing. Mormon beliefs don’t just wash off you the minute you walk out of a church building

Failing the inactive argument, they could always claim he was acting as “a man and not a member”. It must be nice to be able to nuance all your evils away by playing with words so that TSCC can still be the one perfect institution on earth.

Live in Canada and this was an early shelf item. Believe I discovered in 2013 the same Canada revenue website which showed LDS donations going to BYU. Seemed very shady at best and certainly not what the one true church would do. Seeing Bednar at the press club in DC with his arrogance in full ...

100% agree with this. I’ve noticed that ex-Mormons and PIMO’s are by far the most devout and well-read scriptorians and church historians. It’s the TBM’s who seem to be the lazy learners and lack the drive and curiosity to examine their own religion and beliefs.

The most well read Mormons are….

Ex-mormons. I think it’s more pronounced in Mormonism than any other religion and it speaks to the nature of the con men that created it. You don’t see many ex-Catholics that know the catechism or whatever better than an archbishop, you don’t see ex-Jews that know the history of the Torah better than ...
