Re: Anxiety and Depression
Thanks for the info Hallew. Did you and your husband go through marriage therapy to help set boundaries? No; back in February we had an argument where I clearly expressed my frustrations and that opened his eyes to what I was going through. He proposed that I give myself space from church and he ...

Re: Destigmatizing Therapy
It is true that stigmatization of therapy is hardly a Mormon phenomenon, but I have to say, the Church certainly made that problem worse for its members. It has taught them that living the gospel leads to happiness - ergo anything that makes one unhappy isn't something handled by therapy, but by ...

Re: Anxiety and Depression
I have good days and bad days, but a lot more good days since distancing myself from attending church (automatic trigger). I still have anxiety and have accepted that I will always have it. I am better at recognizing triggers and setting boundaries to help keep it at bay. I did struggle with ...

Re: Destigmatizing Therapy
Thank you everyone for the support! :D I thought this post would be the perfect place to share some good news. I’m so excited to share that yesterday I received an acceptance letter into the MSW program that was my first choice. Congratulations! Out of curiosity, what prompted you to pursue an MSW p ...

Re: Destigmatizing Therapy
I thought this post would be the perfect place to share some good news. I’m so excited to share that yesterday I received an acceptance letter into the MSW program that was my first choice. I was really nervous that I wouldn’t get in since the acceptance rate is less than 30% and I know of two other ...

Re: FSY and good, better, best
I’ve seen a few emails in our area about it, but I usually delete them. Right now I have been receiving emails for girls’ camp since I’m an YW Advisor; I already informed them I couldn’t attend due to work. I have made it this far in life without once attending and don’t plan to start now. I’m still ...

Re: Destigmatizing Therapy
Since it leaked in my family that I started seeing a therapist last year (most think it’s tied to my aunt and friend passing close together—they have no idea it’s because church doctrine broke me) I am the “it” person in the family to call/talk about therapy. My grandmother had a stroke last year and ...

Re: Wake-up Call for Mormon Women
I listened to part one, started part two, and will get to part three at some point. I have to take this stuff in small doses. This morning I turned on my audio book while commuting. A conversation between characters was given about a god giving wild wolves the option of being able to turn into ...

Re: 17 new temples?
The temple currently under construction in my city is way over budget (millions). When the stake presidency (I have an inside source) suggested that construction should wait until building costs came back down "the brethren" did not want to hear about it.

Re: POST CONFERENCE UPDATE on the Stealths
Even before my "faith crises" I stopped watching conference. I will never forget the last conference I watched. I was nursing my second child. Oaks was speaking and made light of a woman who was lamenting about what heaven would look like for her since she was the second wife sealed to her husband ...

Current policy, maybe doctrine, about women being sealed to more than one man
Awhile ago I read on the church website that women could only be sealed to more than one man when all parties were deceased. I can't help but scratch my head on this one. If a woman's first husband (who she was sealed to) passes and she remarries, what difference does it make in being sealed to the ...

Re: I can't do this anymore
I feel for you Mackman. Sometimes life sucks; especially, when it’s related to church. Setting boundaries is hard. I’m getting better at this. However, if for whatever reason you can’t say no to speaking next time you are asked, then request for a talk from GC and just read it. Maybe you won’t be ask ...

To go or not to go?
A few weeks ago I was scrolling through FB and saw a friend of a friend's post sharing a mormon stories podcast of their cousin and spouse being interviewed. I decided to listen. I told my husband about it and he got upset with me. (Backstory--we previously discussed me avoiding negative forums ...

Re: Astrological Birth Chart vs. Patriarchal Blessing
I received my PB when I was 16. It constantly talks about following leaders, the prophet, being involved in church as much as I possibly can--it really reiterates the obedience card. It also mentions going to the temple with a righteous man and being sealed, teaching my children to be righteous, etc ...

However, when we got footage from the fast food restaurant's cameras it almost looked like it was intentional. It appears ...

Re: God’s Intervention
Last fall I had a life and death experience. While waiting in a drive-thru with my children we were suddenly rear ended by an elderly lady. I pulled over, parked in a spot, and got out of my vehicle to check on the situation (I thought the lady may be having a stroke or some other medical emergency ...

Re: Update from the Stealths
It’s been a couple of rough years. I guess you could say I’m PIMO. However, I know I will eventually leave. I’m just biding my time. I saw a therapist after I broke. She is an active LDS member. She specializes in marriage counseling, but I thought she might be a good alternative since she under ...
