Thanks Wndr, an insight so much needed.
I just can't explain how much she means to me. We are talking through so much of our residual trauma. Daily.
Mine and hers. And it hurts sometimes, a lot. She cares so much about me. So thoughtful.
I'd hate to lose her.
Families are Forever is a sham.

Re: Separated vs Divorced
I think some TBM’s don’t want to risk their eternal reward so they stay sealed and hope god will sort it out later. Or they try to get their temple marriages dissolved by the first presidency who denies them of that opportunity and says god will sort it out later. Well, she said this, in other wor ...

Separated vs Divorced
As a relative outside to the Church nowadays it struck me how many couples I know that have separated but never divorced. Like: Living separately, in each their own house, living their own lives. But refusing to divorce because "I want to be sealed to someone". When you think it over, I mean as a ...

Every time I hear about Trump and his legal shenanigans, I am amazed at the parallels with the career of a Gaius Julius Caesar.

Re: The usefulness of prophets
Just today I heard a good one from an old friend who's still in.
God didn't give revelation about Covid to test us to see if we would obey his next commandment.
He surely did test us after RMN asked us to get vaccinated.
Friend didn't take the shot btw.

Re: Hate vs. Indifference
Hello Gatorbait, This sound all too familiar. The only people who care are those that actually cared about you anyway. Went to church a few times last 2 months. To help and support an old friend who's going through a divorce now. It's only the bishop who cares, and my friends extended family. They ...

Re: Slowly fading away? The future of NOM?
There's a new club, it's called Reddit. And then there's this old crusty saloon. There is a place for both in my life. And to be honest, this is where I feel safe. Reddit is too big, and too many people I know frequent it. And when I vent or complain or just plain gossip on ExMo Reddit. It might ...

Re: Podcastinterview of one of my best friends
His dad has been a Stakepresident once, and a bishop multiple times of various wards.
I always felt as a recent convert back in 1997 he had a golden perfect youth.
I was so jealous. Knowing what I now know I am not.....
And I pity his mom, a longsuffering sweet, sweet, perfect mormon lady.

Re: Early 70’s divorcee
I can relate to the earlier posts when my wife told me she loved the church more than me !!! That cut me very very deep. That's was 2 years ago and she has never apologized. I am still to this day contemplating divorce over it as she is a super TBM and refuses to see anything wrong with what the ...

Mid 60’s divorcee
Talked to the mom of an old exmo-friend.
And she said:
I wish my husband loved and cherished me as much as he did the Church.
And I admit to having lost a lot of sleep over that.

So that actually used to be the case, the former Antwerp-Stake straddled the borders. They have now amended the borders of the stakes to mostly conform to country-borders. The Dutch Heerlen-Ward remain in the Belgium-Brussels North stake, because it’s a mostly military ward and many work at NATO. ...

Re: My best friend is out, but works with a bishop from HELL
Maybe this was lost in the initial post. His elder brother is counselor in the Stakepresidency, and participates in their nice funny appgroup sharing "funny memes". Most of these are sexists, racist, and borderline pornographic. So some higher-ups are aware, at least technically speaking. Says ...

Re: My best friend is out, but works with a bishop from HELL
He works at my friend.
But my friend tries to keep him at the productionline, packaging flour and other bakingstuff. And tries to keep him away from clients and store-personnel.
The bishop also drives taxi for special-needs kids….
He’s a ticking timebomb.

Re: The countdown is officially on
I had a very close friend wait to divorce until kids were out of HS and it didn't turn out as smooth as he'd hoped. He ended up making some bad decisions just to stay sane and ended up becoming the bad guy. Had he ended it when he wanted to end it I think things would have gone smoother. But every ...

Re: Ever wished you would just cease to be?
To be honest, way too often lately. Mormonism sets men up to fail and sets them up to feel lost especially after a divorce or loss of a partner. Men are expected to give, culturally and by our religion, to provide and to keep pushing the envelope. So when suddenly you are "surplus to requirements ...
